Trudo Magazine Features Habitat’s Story in Its Latest Issue

An Exclusive with Jeta Berisha, CEO of Habitat

We’re proud to share that Trudo Magazine has featured Habitat in its latest issue under the theme Transforming Sustainability. This recognition highlights our commitment to pioneering green innovation, reshaping communication strategies, and setting new standards for sustainable business in Kosovo and beyond. The article offers a deep dive into our journey, values, and impact — showing how we’re building a greener, smarter future, one bold step at a time.

When Jeta Berisha talks about her work, her passion for human rights and environmental justice radiates through every word. As the CEO of Habitat, a company redefining sustainability and ClimateTech in Kosovo, she views her role as more than just a manager or a leader—it’s a calling to make a difference.

“Although my official role is that of a leader and manager, I would prefer to be recognized first and foremost as a human rights activist,” Jeta begins. Habitat, she explains, was born out of necessity, filling a void for a generation that values both environmental preservation and collective responsibility. “Our mission is to create a stronger connection between individual interests and collective needs, fostering a life of higher quality for everyone.”

A Mission Beyond Borders

Habitat’s approach to sustainability goes far beyond traditional environmental efforts. In a country like Kosovo, where limited infrastructure and complex political dynamics intersect, Habitat has structured its business model to address socio-environmental challenges head-on.

“We aim to track, identify, and minimize pollution through research, strategies, and smart technology,” Jeta shares. She views the basic human right to clean air, water, and a healthy environment as more than
just a global objective—it’s an essential step toward democratization and fulfilling generational aspirations.

Full-Stack Sustainability

Jeta introduces the idea of “FullStack Sustainability,” a philosophy that touches every aspect of Habitat’s operations. “It’s about embedding sustainability into every layer of what we do,” she says. “From our internal policies to the services we provide, sustainability isn’t a single objective—it’s an ecosystem that supports environmental and social equity.”

Habitat stands out by viewing the economy as a reflection of social behavior. Their focus is on reforming consumerist systems, producing fewer but more meaningful products that benefit both people and nature.

Innovating for Impact

Habitat’s innovations are changing the way sustainability is approached in Kosovo and beyond. Jeta highlights products like their ESG Carbon Accounting software – Karbon360, which helps businesses measure and minimize their environmental impact. Another milestone is Platforma360, Kosovo’s first green media platform, designed to educate communities and amplify sustainable practices.

“We believe that technology and innovation are critical to achieving a circular economy,” Jeta says. These tools are more than just business solutions—they represent a shift toward business models that prioritize long term sustainability over short-term gains.

The Role of Communication

“Effective communication is key to driving change,” Jeta explains. For Habitat, promoting sustainability isn’t just about developing tools; it’s about educating businesses and communities on why sustainability is both a necessity and an opportunity.

Habitat’s communication strategy is deeply rooted in research and credibility. “Every piece of content undergoes rigorous scrutiny,” Jeta emphasizes. “We want our messaging to be consistent, accurate, and impactful.” By focusing on affirmative and research-driven content, Habitat has successfully engaged its audience and fostered eco-friendly practices.

Overcoming Challenges

Transitioning to sustainable models isn’t without its hurdles. Businesses often struggle to balance the upfront costs of sustainability with the longterm benefits. “Our role is to help them navigate these challenges,” Jeta says.

One example is Habitat’s Plastic-Free Office Policy, which eliminates single-use plastics. Another is their 4-Day Work Week, a policy that not only reduces energy consumption but also supports better work-life balance. These initiatives prove that sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into daily business operations without compromising success.

A Vision for the Future

As Habitat continues to grow, its impact on Kosovo’s sustainability landscape becomes increasingly evident.

“We’re proud to be recognized as the first green and innovative company in the Western Balkans focusing on ClimateTech,” Jeta shares. By the end of the year, Habitat plans to launch a new product to help businesses reduce their environmental footprint—a timely solution as Kosovo prepares for its carbon tax and stricter international standards. “Every day is a day of learning for us,” Jeta reflects. “The more we realize how vast the environment and society are, the more we understand how much there is left to learn. That humility is what drives us forward.”
With its commitment to innovative solutions, impactful communication, and a deep connection to both environmental and social justice, Habitat is leading the charge toward a sustainable future in Kosovo—one step, one policy, and one breakthrough at a time.
